So, with the new metagame arriving officially in 10 days, I'm eager to try out some of the 7th gen Pokemon, aloan forms and reworked pokemon in competitive. I want to ask you, what mons are you waiting for the most? Did you already think of sets for them? Discuss :]

I am referring mainly to the OU tier, since the meta will take a while to establish, but if you have any sets you think are valid for lower (or higher) tiers feel free to share them

Nihilego: I am thinking of a Life Orb fast sweeper with 176 Sp Atk and 252 Speed, this way its speed stat is actually higher than the attack, and the remaining 84 EVs put into the defense to avoid some crucial OHKOs or 2HKOs. Of course, you can also use 252/252 offenses, if you prefer the boost to be in the attacking side. Power Gem, Sludge Wave/Bomb, HP Ice and Protect/Toxic/CM/whatever else you need.

Buzzwole: Jolly 252/252 because of it's actually nice speed tier, outspeeding everything up to DIggersby (HEATRAN) and the ability to OHKO many common threats, Ice Punch, Leech Life, Hammer Arm/Superpower, Thunder Punch/Rock Tomb/Facade/coverage. Interesting to note that +6 252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Abomasnow: 238-282 (67 - 79.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO and 252 Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Thunder Punch vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 270-320 (74.1 - 87.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO so that's something to consider, if you need a realiable check to literally all the ORAS physical threats below that speed tier.

Pheromosa will just be banned, it's a Mega Lopunny which doesn't take the mega slot, is faster, could run mixed no problem, outspeeds 150s, and has better typing offensively, with all that coverage. quick ban pls.

Xurkitree is interesting, could use some scarf sets to take advantage of it's amazing special attack, Volt Switch out of there, and all that stuff, but it will face competition from bulkier or faster electric types, like Zapdos and Raikou. But he has that ability, Beast Boost, which could be a game changer, so we'll see. Tbolt, Volt Switch, HP Ice, Energy Ball, scarf and 252/252.

Celesteele imo is the poor man's Skarmory, lacks recovery outside of rest, good offense and bulk. Has Flame Charge though, so it could also have some particular sets and go full offensive. I see it in lower tiers, like RU. completely changed idea, it has access to leech seed recovery, and that changes everything. Ice beam, I believe flamethrower if he learns it, leech seed, coverage/protect

Kartana (Grass/Steel) outspeeds and beats Keldeo, Terrakion, forces Latis to use Draco Meteor or use HP Fire, and so on. A set I'd use is Sacred Sword, Leaf Blade, Smart Strike (Steel, 70 BP, never misses), Swords Dance/Protect. I don't know yet if it needs a suspect, since it dies to a special sneeze and has really poor coverage, but it looks very good if supported.

Guzzlord could work in lower tiers, but with all the fairies running around and having to rely on a special attack like Sludge Bomb to hit them I can't really see it doing work.

Necrozma is interesting. Has access to Stealth Rock and recovery, and has an ability which should work like Filter. We might even see some Stored Power sets, paired with the newly buffed Dugtrio to trap Ttars. Also, PRISMATIC LASERS, CATCH THAT IF YOU CAN, SOME HEAT RESTTALK PRISMATIC LASER SETS ARE COMING. Really poor coverage, can have its uses, but will hardly do any work if he cannot deal at all with dark types (mixed with Brick Break?)

Out of all of the UBs I really like Buzzwole and Nihilego, and I really want to try them out ahah

Salandit will make an excellent wallbreaker, 100% accurate Toxic, Nasty Plot, the ability to be the bane of all fairies in existance are all good things.

Marshadow has the ability to steal the boosts from the opposing pokemon BEFORE he hits. So, for example, one could use a bulky set to live a +2 BP and steal the boosts from a Scizor, and proceed to sweep with a +2 Technician boosted Shadow Sneak. Did I also already say that now, barring Megas and weather, he is on par with Weavile the fastest Pokemon in the current OU tier?

Weather: oh boy weather wars will be coming back this gen. 130 base attack Beartic? Drizzle- Roost Pelipper WITH U-TURN? Hail actually useful now? Weather is coming back from its nerf in 6th gen, and it will be a lot stronger than before.

Zygarde perfect form to me is a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a huge buff to old 50% Zygarde, since Coil sets will be much better. But... that's about it, they kept 50% Zygarde's stat, and only increased to 216 his base HP. All at the cost of its ability. I was seriosuly expecting some S-Rank uber/AG material, given how it was hyped since the beginning. Not this... this is seriously boring, and I'm not even sure it might work in OU, since the little doggy could very well die to a cold (get it? Because he's x4 weak... nevermind).

Month late replies, woo

How was Hail made useful? I haven't heard anything about it. There's Aurora Veil which I suppose is good but it's not really amazing, is it?

Also, on the main topic, I really like the look of Minior. At the moment people don't know what his shield does, and then once he gets his Shell Smash up he's seriously threatening- particularly mixed sets.
I'm also really liking Celesteela. It's like Heatran- everyone expects the (probably better) bulky stally variants, but they can be major offensive threats.
most of the data that was once here is now outdated, possibly including the below

The ability Slush Rush has been added, which is basically a Sand Rush that functions with Hail. Beartic (buffed) has it, same as Alolan Sandslash. To me, it's Hail beats Rain which beats Sand which beats Hail. Sun is just bad, no actually notable Chlorophyll users. I'm not saying of course that Hail is the best weather, that goes to Rain, but only that it now finally has its niche.

Also, two new setters, Vanilluxe and Alolan Ninetales, Aurora Veil... if only the actual move Hail got buffed, it could be on par with Sand and Rain

Same for me, Celesteela is my favourite UB right now. Minior has a loooooot of potential, needsthe proper setup, but itcan definitely work, it's like a Gen 7 Hawlucha
